About Mochi
Mochi is a traditional food made of glutinous rice. Steamed, the glutinous rice will be pound until it become sticky and elastic. The smashed glutinous rice can be made into rice cake, stuffed rice ball with different ingredients, like rice flours. A sweet mochi contains fillings, like peanut powder, sesame powder, bean pastes, taro paste, sweet potato paste and more. As for Japanese mochi, savory sauce will be applied while the mochi was grilled. Also, brown sugar sauce and soy bean powder are typical flavors for traditional Japanese mochi without filling. Another kind of mochi, daifuku, contains bean pastes, fruits, ice cream and more. Sweet or savory, mochi is a popular dessert and snack loved by young and olds.
